Name  Zoraya Garces
Position  Retail Manager
Hire Date  5/22/2006
Bio  Zoraya is originally from New York City. She spent 5 years in Chicago before returning home in 2001. After several years of working in music stores which she loved for the people and the perks and not for the pop music I had to push, she found herself looking for a job in a less “corporate” environment. A friend who had been working in the petcare industry for many years, referred her to a local pet supply store. At that time, she was not prepared for how little she actually new about current pet care practices or products. Fortunately, everyone there was knowledgeable and patient and shared what they knew. The immediate beneficiary was my own animal, a little black cat named Evil. She had recently fallen ill, and by simply changing her diet, she improved not only in health, but also in appearance. Later on, she would be joined by The Dude, a skinny, stray ocicat mix that broke into our building and never left. From that store, Zoraya moved on into the dog daycare field. Her retail background led her to the role of buyer which has enabled her to pass on what I have learned to my coworkers and clients. Zoraya says, "If I can help a dog by getting him on the right diet, it’s especially satisfying. If I happpen to sell you some new clothes and collars then it is just a plus."
